Galway Quarter finals this weekend & Dublin v Kerry

Kerry Gold Bet this weekend
The real fun or attraction in punting on sport is having an opinion on something and being financial rewarded for being right. The time to really invest down in your local bookies is when the odds on offer look wrong on a particular team. One of the greatest ricks in GAA betting history occurred in 2009 when Kerry clashed with Dublin in the quarter finals. Dublin were somehow made favourites for that clash against a side gunning their seventh All Ireland final in a row. I remember it fondly as we at Mulholland’s ignored the rest of the bookies and made Kerry favourites and laid a few massive bets on the Dubs. Cluxton was picking the ball out of his net after 38 seconds and Kerry blitzed them that day by 17 points. When the sides met again in the 2011 final, Kerry were made favourites at 4/7 only for Dublin to stun them with a late comeback. Everything fell right for Dublin that day especially Kevin McManamon for the free at the death.
This year Dublin are hot favourites again and from a sheer value proposition, Kerry must be backed. The light blue brings out the best in Kerry at Croke Park and Jim Gavins have not impressed me one iota this season. They have brilliant players but the squad lacks cohesion or in other words; they’re a shower of greedy buggers each and every one of them who have blinkers for goals and can’t seem to pass to each other in the final third. Kerry have the cute tag and they are starting games in top gear. I think they’ll win again on Sunday but the late collapses against Cork and Cavan worry me slightly so maybe a saver on Kerry Half time, Dublin Full time at 5/1 is best advised on top of a Kerry win bet.

Galway Quarter finals this weekend
We have some mouth-watering clashes in this weekend’s quarter finals. Clash of the round for me is Milltown & Cortoon. Milltown have shot up like PSG with their big transfer acquisitions from Kildare and even from their near neighbours. Cortoon must have money to burn too flying emigrant Shane Gilmore home from Canada twice. Cortoon will need to get Adrian Varley back from injury to give them a real fighting chance.

Salthill against Caltra all ce

ntres around Michael Meehan. If hes plays Caltra have a chance, if hes not, Salthill's current price of 4/9 will collapse.

Leitir Mor have impressed me so far this season but they’ve ran into the worst possible draw here and it’s hard to see them shock the favourites Corofin at 5/1.

The all city clash sees St Michaels take on St James. Michaels have really been galvanised by the loss of their star player Shane Mohan who went awol earlier in the season and Eddie Hoare is playing out of his skin this season but again, this may be a bridge too far.

Hotpot: Salthill, Corofin, Milltown & St James pays 5/2
