What a fantastic result for Germany. Not many gave them a chance with all the dodgy decisions that can usually conspire but their victory in the Eurovision was long over due.
England got plenty of karma for the Dodgy Russian Linesman in 1966 and the fact they grumble about being hard done, yet reckon their 6 million pound coach was useless and let their players off the hook makes their defeat even sweeter. 4-1 yet they deny they were beaten off the park. For any Lampard backers, Mulhollands did the decent thing and paid out on him to score anytime and 4-2 scoreline.
They also had to pay out all losing bet as there were more than 4 goals. All in all an expensive match for John Mulholland's. They are continuing this special for the next 4 matches.
How will this weekend go:
Brazil v Holland
I can't have the Brazilians at this price. They are now favourites to win the World Cup and considering Spain have the easiest Quarter Final, I'd make Spain favourites right now. Yes if Brazil beat Holland, Spain would meet Argentina/Germany while Brazil meet Uruguay/Ghana. That's an if that should be factored into the price and it doesn't appear to be. Holland have yet to really come to the boil but from the start I said they would get to this stage in first gear. Can they find that extra level to beat Brazil who knocked them out in 94 & 98? Yes they can. They have a much superior midfield and Brazil will need to counter them quick out wide and play very defensively They shouldn't try and beat Holland down the middle. They should pass the dutch on the left hand side. If the Dutch play as a team which they have shown, they will win or if Van Persie keeps up his bitterness, they will die as individuals. Hopefully they will watch this and raise to the occasion:
Verdict: Holland to win 2-1 12/1
Holland to qualify at 13/8
Holland to win in 90 mins 10/3
and Van Persie to show some class after complaining last day to score first 6/1
Verdict: Over 2.5 Goals 11/10
This on paper looks the most one sided match and the likelihood of poor John having to pay back all the losing outright bets If Spain Win the World Cup is starting to make sweat pour down for the Mulholland family. The favourite tag seemed to weigh them down early doors but now they appear to be hitting top gear at the right time and David Villa looks like scoring in every match he plays. Torres and Iniesta still look poor so far and may be replaced but when you have Llorente and Fabregas to spring from the bench it doesn't look too shabby. Portugal only conceeded one by brnig the bus, Paraguay will get taken apart and Spain should win by 2-3 goals
Verdict: Spain to win 3-0 9/1 with David Villa scorecast 22/1
Spain minus a goal on handicap 7/5
Verdict: Holland to win 2-1 12/1
Holland to qualify at 13/8
Holland to win in 90 mins 10/3
and Van Persie to show some class after complaining last day to score first 6/1
Ghana V Uruguay
Uruguay have looked the surprise team of the tournament and by winning a soft group, they have found themselves with a soft route to the final. Can they keep it up? Call me cynical, but I believe in FIFA. I Believe in FIFA being a shower of money grabbing whores. I can't help but feel that if Ghana get a chance for a penalty or red card for Uruguay, then the ref will take it. An African team in the Semi Finals would do wonders for the tournament and if South Korea could pull it off in 2002, Ghana can do it now.Ghana are 3/1 to win and surely worth a nibble at that price.
Verdict: Ghana to win 3/1
Verdict: Ghana to win 3/1
Argentina V Germany
Perhaps the game of the round. There's a really big chance John Mulholland will have to pay all the money back in this match as it's got goal fest written all over it. This game could go either way and having had a small bet on Germany outright and backing them last week to beat England, As a punter I can't let my heart rule my head and talk myself into a Germany victory just because that's what I want. The best bet is over 2.5 goals at 11/10.Verdict: Over 2.5 Goals 11/10
