Charity Bets

Handicap Bets

Patrick Mullins
One to get the Cheltenham expenses
Indevan in the bumper at Gowran on Saturday.
100 Euro charity bet
Hurricane Fly in the Champion Hurdle.
Elsewhere
-Un Atout might lack a gear in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle.
-Sweetest on Champagne Fever here from the Mullins team.
-His hope would be that Back In Focus runs in the '4-miler' where he could take the ride.
-Pont Alexandre seen as a long term Gold Cup horse. Slight concern that the old course is a speed orientated track though gutted if beaten.
-Ballycasey will love the better ground in the Albert Bartlett but a short enough price for what he's done on the track.
-Put up Inish Island at a bigger price in the same race as he's improving all the time.
-Probable ride in the bumper – Union Dues – he has a lot of gears but the concern is that he's small.
-In the handicaps Abbey Lane has a big chance whilst Fiveforthree has a big chance too off a rating of 143. He has a huge engine but legs like glass.
-From an outside yard, Il Fenomeno has caught Patrick's eye but Davy Russell poured cold water on that idea.
Davy Russell
One to get the Cheltenham expenses
Toner D'Oudairies in a beginners chase at Gowran on Saturday.
100 Euro charity bet
First Lieutenant if he goes in the Ryanair. If not Dynaste.
Elsewhere
-Un Atout. He's extremely good but he's a chaser in the making. Extremely disappointed if he doesn't make the first four.
-Rides Rule The World in the Neptune. Thinks a horse needs to be a Grade 1 winner ideally going into this event.
-Rides Road To Riches in the Albert Bartlett.
-Rides Lord Windermere in the RSA.
-Rides Argocat in the Jewson.
-First Lieutenant's prospects. "It only makes sense that he'd run in the Ryanair."
-Bog Warrior will travel to the meeting but he's not a guaranteed runner. It would have to be soft ground for him to take up his engagement in the World Hurdle.
-Gigginstown House Stud hold a strong hand in the Martin Pipe race. Quite sweet on Bonisland here.
Peter Casey
100 Euro charity bet
Our Conor in the Triumph Hurdle.
Elsewhere
-"I hope Sir Des Champs win the Gold Cup. If he does we'll win the f***in thing next year. We made a bags of things with Flemenstar this year but we won't make the same mistakes next year."
Matt Williams
100 Euro charity bet
A double on Dynaste and Super Duty (the Kim Muir).
Elsewhere
-Has Toner D'Oudairies and Carlito Brigante on his radar for the handicaps.
-Lac Fontana a big price at around 20s for the Triumph.
Paul Kealy
100 Euro charity bet
50 each-way on Menorah in the Ryanair.
Elsewhere
-Some doubt about Reve De Sivola's participation in the World Hurdle.
-Passed on a message from Paul Nicholls' assistant, Dan Skelton, that very, very serious consideration is been given to running Wonderful Charm in the World Hurdle. If he doesn't, Wonderful Charm has to have a strong chance in a handicap (Coral Cup).
-Carlito Brigante on his mind for a handicap. The Druids Nephew in the same race could be very, very well handicapped.
-Captain Sunshine, described as "a looney," has a huge, huge amount of ability and Emma Lavelle's charge is a horse to consider if he turns up.
George McDonagh
100 Euro charity bet
Salsify in the Foxhunter.
Alan Byrne
100 Euro charity bet
Rolling Star in the Triumph.
Hector O'hEochagain
100 Euro charity bet
Salsify in the Foxhunter.
Barney Curley
100 each-way on Whispering Gallery in the Neptune at 33s.
Nicky Henderson by phone
-Handicappers mentioned were Tanks For That and Anquetta (if the ground is good he could be the best handicapped of his lot). Of course he'd again love to win the Johnny Henderson Grand Annual, named in honour of his late father.
Biggest negative of the night
Nobody wants to know about Golantilla in the bumper.

X factor: Week Two preview

Well last week I tipped up WKD orY2P or whatever they were bloody called to win the whole show and they got dumped out in the first round so I clearly have a talent for picking losers. I should have switched allegiance to Mary once we got the Pankhurst and the right to vote.

I could make a load of excuses about FYD's elimination but let's be fair, they may have been unlucky to go out in round one but they clearly were not good enough to win. Their rendition of I want to be a Billionaire may as well of been sang by Simon Cowell himself, currently worth $260 million, with people now able to download the songs every week, he can cream all his contestants before throwing them on the scrapheap, he'll reach his target in no time. Even Tesco are getting in on the act, cheering on Mary while advertising themselves behind the biggest brand that is the X Factor.

Mary blew away the opposition and did it with a supposed throat infection. Can she win it? We will be seriously out of pocket if she does as we are refunding all losing outright bets placed for the month of October in all our John Mulholland stores if Mary wins, so if you back Aidan to win and Mary wins, fear not, We'll give you your money back.
Offers applies to bets placed between 15th October and 31st of October

Who Will be eliminated this week?
There could be 2 eliminated this week again so if backing on the 3rd elimination market it will be the person who finishes last in the phone vote. That actually makes it easier as we just have to find the least popular contestant in the market.

Rumours of John Adeleye and Wagner getting into a full blown fit in the house has got the gossip columns flowing and both are high in the betting to hit the road this week. S too is last weeks survivor Kate Waisell. One big disadvantage and I'd blame FYD's early exit on it was playing first. Last weeks show was over 2 hours long and playing first is a serious disadvantage. 4 our of the last 6 series, the person who sang first ended up in bottom 2 in the first show. It still effects results throughout the series so if you happen to find out the running order, let me know please.

I'm going for John Adeleye myself as I can see a bounce for Katie after last week's show and if it is indeed a Madonna week she has to survive as will Wagner and Diva Fever who have a fan base to keep them safe for now.

Verdict: John Adeleye to be 3rd elimination 4/1

The All Ireland Football Final

Well I've fancied Cork from the very start, surely I can't change now? I hope the Cork team bus has a toilet on board when the celebrating gets under way on the way home down the new motorway or they're be some dangerous pit-stops.

Even the most optimistic langer must be getting worried as each and every time Cork have taken to the field, we keep expecting them to blow into life like they did last season against Donegal and Tyrone. Each time, they win without any slickness to their performance. Let's be fair, Dublin had them firmly on the ropes only for tiredness set in playing that high intensity football and silly fouls were made late on. An Eoghan O Gara no show didn't help. Down won't have that problem up front with Martin Clarke and Benny Coulter sure to cause problems individually and collectively.

I fancied Down to win Ulster this season and although confidence was slightly shaken, they got a nice draw and built confidence with wins over Offaly and Sligo before that masterclass against Kerry. They have been a breath of fresh air into this season's championship and wouldn't it be something for another AFL man to turn his back on professionalism to win the top prize Gaelic football has to offer. What odds Clarke heads back to Oz if Down win on Sunday?

Where Cork can dominate is in midfield. Peter Fitzpatrick did well for the injured Ambrose Rogers but against men like Alan O’Connor and Aidan Walsh, I can see Down coming up short especially when you consider Cork can spring Nicholas Murphy from the bench. Cork's bench is more dangerous than a News of the World expose.

Cork's biggest danger would be the same as Kilkenny's. Kilkenny shouldn't of played Shefflin and Cork shouldn't play Canty if he is genuinely not fit as Down will look to score heavily early on. With that in mind, the best bet in the market for a nice price is:

Down Half time- Cork full time @ 5/1

Also have a nibble on Ambrose Rogers to score the first goal @ 40/1
Rumours around the Mourne county suggest he may start up front and if he doesn't start, and a goal is scored before he comes on, you get your money back anyways so no harm done.
